Hi All - first thank you for taking the time to consider my post and for your time and effort in responding. I'll try to keep this succint. 40 yr old caucasion female.

Sept: symptoms onset, tingling in right hand, then left then left foot then mouth. Dizziness.

Oct: Twitching started in foot then terrible pain and quivering/twitching in right tricep. Development of nerve pain in that arm and shoulder.

Nov: EMG showed active dennervation in right tricep. Clean MRI. Blood work all normal.

Nov-Dec: twitching became more widespread: arms, legs, stomach, eye. I also started to get spells where my traps and some muscles in my left arm and hand would quiver uncontrollably - like the type of quiver one feels when shivering. It happens without fail if I sleep on my side.

Jan: Back and left arm quivering worse. Left arm muscles quiver after activity or if I place my forearm on a table and try to hold out my hand unsupported, the forearm muscles and my hand quiver and shake.

Muscle cramping in muscle in between my left thumb and fingers and pain with use. Cramping in the tongue muscles under my chin and soreness when talking. Laryngospasms but not severe - just uncomforable.

Neurology appt: noted diffuse hyperreflexia throughout. Shaking in left arm/hand.

Present: all of the above in addition to minor twitches in tongue, eye twitching extending down face. No real weakness though other than pain with use and shaking arm - but it doesn't feel like I can't use it. Pinching/tightness in my left tricep and bicep feeling.

Neurologist has set another EMG for April bc as she said, if its ALS, it's not like we won't know.

Trying to enjoy every moment with my little kids and not be consumed by this but it has been a struggle. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Positional /exertional shaking does not sound like ALS, but could reflect lack of refreshing sleep, anxiety, stress, etc. The odds are still greatly in your favor against ALS.

Thanks. A twitch I've had in my eye for the past few months has now spread down under my eye and into my cheek with an occassional tongue twitch. I'm starting to feel a little hopeless at this point. I have a call into my neuro; put off calling her all day bc it makes it feel like more of a reality.
