Hi, my name is Caitlin, and I’m a very scared 18 year old girl.

First of all I’d like to say I admire all of you and I’m praying for each and every person with this disease.

About two weeks ago, when I was on the verge of going to sleep, I felt some twitching in my right temple. The next morning I woke up, went to sit on my couch, and noticed that I was twitching on the left side of my back. I googled it and immediately fell down a rabbit hole. I was already stressing about these random bruises I’ve been getting on my legs and now this. Well the twitching as since spread all over, especially in my feet and my left calf. I went to my pcp and they did blood work and everything was normal and I was referred to a Nero for an emg which I’m getting today. Well the other night I noticed my left calf looks a lot different than the right and I was wondering if it could be atrophy? It doesn’t feel weak but it does hurt at night and twitches constantly unless I’m up and moving. Any help/advice anyone could give would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much

You don't have atrophy and twitching means absolutely nothing.

Proper hydration, daily exercise, and stress management would be a good start. If you need treatment for anxiety, see your primary care doctor and go from there. Your primary care doc can also do some routine blood work to check B-12, electrolytes, and possibly Vitamin D. In the meantime, reduce caffeine, do some meditation, avoid processed sugary foods, and get good sleep.

You don't have to worry about ALS.

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to reply!
You’re advice has been very helpful. My neuro did the emg and said there aren’t any signs of anything major, thinks it could be something to do with my autonomic nerves, but he told me he will continue to study the results and send me and my pcp a report. I will no longer bother you amazing people of this forum with my anxiousness, as I know that your advice is valuable and does not need to wasted on anyone with health anxiety.
Again, thank you so much Kim.
Prayers for you, you’re loved ones, and those suffering with this disease everywhere
Caitlin
