In the past I have felt a lump in my throat and thought it was probably nothing. Then a few nights ago (granted when I was really stressed out) I started caughing heavily when trying to talk. Then last night in the middle of the night I woke up with the sensation that I could not swallow. It went away quickly after I fully woke up. I have had problems with post nasal drip my whole life- but this seems much different. I have been noticing that I am more hoarse than normal as well. This symptom too comes and goes. My family says that I have been to several doctors (including an ALS specialist) and none have found anything so I need to stop worrying. But what else could be causing all of these symptoms?

I have the lump in the throat feeling too. It was my first symptom. Could be cricopharyngeal muscle constriction, I had a swallow study and that what they think mine is, but they dont know why. My ALS specialist says that he doensnt know whats wrong with me but if forced to say he would lean toward myasthenia. Problem is you never hear of people with myasthenia getting fasics and cramps. Time will tell I guess..
