I have my RT coming out on Friday to replace my trilogy. I have the choice between 2 different models for replacement. One is the Luisa by Lowenstein and the other is a Breas Vivo 45. I was wondering if anyone is using either of these models and how they're working for you.

Breas recently had a correction for formaldehyde exposure with initial use. When there is one, others often follow, and having a defect that requires action on the part of DMEs to correct is...scary. I also note that on their site, they buried this correction in the PR section instead of highlighting it on the home page.

The Luisa had a safety issue in 2023 that was fixed with a firmware update and is still featured on the product page. Lowenstein is also actively making improvements such as an adaptive backup rate, which could be a great feature for some PALS. They have good clinical literature beyond product guides publicly available, the mark of a company that actually wants the products to be used optimally.

So certainly look at both -- seeing is believing -- but if I had the choice, I'd go with the Luisa all else equal. Though it's under a Covid EUA, full FDA approval is pending so there will be no disruption. They have a US partner (Movair) that is also in respiratory, vs. Breas that has a US office -- not the same thing. All in all, seems like a stronger ecosystem.

I just got Luisa and it seems to be working well--but it's only been a couple of weeks
