I had fluoroscopy this week showing at least half my diaphragm is paralyzed. I will be having a tracheotomy Friday and use a ventilator at night. My pulmonary specialist feels this will help my daytime functioning. Have any of you had any experience in this area? I would be interested in hearing from you.

Hi, Mark ... I'm not at that stage yet, so can't offer any real feedback. Hopefully, Joel will see your message and respond.

I just wanted to send you some good vibes and say some prayers. I hope your procedure went very smoothly. It sounds like this will be quite beneficial to your quality of life. Let us know how things went when you get back online.

Hi Mark,
Remember the weekend might be a little slower as far as responses to your questions. I agree with what Beth said about joel getting on here. I believe he has said in the past that having the trach and vent have improved his life quite a bit.
Please know that prayers are with you, and keep us posted,
take good care,
brenda

Thank you both for your response and your prayers. I will have the procedure is coming Friday, 12/19. Take care.

Good luck Friday and here's wishing you a speedy recovery. While you are waiting for Joel or Quadbliss or some of PALS more experienced in this area, why not do a search from the tab at the top of this screen. There's a lot of information from folks who had it done and have been happy with the improvements to their lives. My best to you. Cindy
