I came across an article discussing a recent Johns Hopkins study (29 March 2022) - Potential window for treating ALS identified and Cx43 hemichannels contribute to astrocyte-mediated toxicity in sporadic and familial ALS which talks about Tonabersat being a prospective drug for ALS. On a little more digging, I came across a few more older articles/studies which mentioned/indicated towards the same (here, here and here). However, I could not find any ongoing/past trial(s) for the efficacy of the drug. Does anyone have any update/information/insight on the same?

A JHU inventor, last author on the ms you linked, holds the patent for use in ALS (20200352902), past its original failure as a migraine treatment, and so the rights are up for sale but evidently no takers thus far. Unlikely you will see any trials until someone buys those rights, outright or conditionally.
