I'd like to share a tip that has worked for us regarding my mom's lip-biting when she yawns.
When my mom yawns she bites down hard on her lips. The yawns usually come 3 or 4 at a time. For a few seconds after each yawn, her jaw locks. She used to get sores on her bottom lip because she was biting it so much. I discovered that if someone is next to her when she is yawning, they can insert a small portion of towel or wash-cloth into her mouth (not too far in) to create some protection for her lower lip. This has worked fairly well. Of course, it depends on there being an able-bodied person next to or near her to act quickly enough to insert the wash-cloth in her mouth. At least for us, it has worked out and we are able to catch the yawns most of the time.
