As many of you know, I've had a terrible time with my legs and other body parts cramping up on a daily basis. After 2 years of this, I finally gave in to a prescription of baclofen. Now that I've been on it for a few months, it is certain that it has helped in turning the cramps down a few notches. I still wake to very bad muscle spasms in the legs (charlie horse like) but these subside during the day.

Baclofen, as I understand it, is a muscle relaxing drug designed to help more with spasticity than cramping but has often been found to help with cramping.

My next appt with the V.A. neuro is scheduled for mid-July.

So, I relinquish my self-made crown and title as forum Cramp King and leave it for another to claim. This action makes me happy!

P.S.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers regarding the loss of Mrs. Z's dad, Arnold.

Glad to hear that you are giving up your crown! :) Hope that it continues to help you. Glad to have you back after your loss. Give Mrs. PZ a ((((hug))))) from us.

I think it is sad that in the United States they banned Quinine. It works soooo much better than anything else!

hey joel what was there reason behind banning it

The FDA said there were too many side effects. But I have never heard of one. So I really don't know. We can still get it in Canada and it is marvelous for cramps.

Side effects, What about rilutek AND baclofen?
SO glad that it has worked for you, dear Zaph. Every time I have a bad cramp, I think of you. Isnt that nice;-)?
Love

hi pz.
good to hear from you,i am so sorry for the loss of mrs pz's father please give her my condolences.

great to hear the baclofen is working, hopefully you will see more improvement the longer you take them.

unfortunatly lately for me my usual dose of 40mg is no longer working and have gone back upto 60mg.
this is mainly because for sometime i have had bad spasms in the ankles that are getting too much to cope with.
they keep me awake all night and during the day my ankles feel to weak to carry my small weight, feels like they could just snap.
so i may now have to have some supports or braces.

my love to you and your family :)
