:pWe frequently refer to ALS as a monster, and now we have a picture of it as it appears in our cerebellum. The Neuromuscular Disease Center at
Washington University, St. Louis, has a picture of it on their website. Definitely looks monstrous, even devilish by Hollywood movie standards. Rather like the pint sized dinosaur that killed with its spit in the Jurassic Park movie.

Peduncles sounds like a really effective insult.

Thanks for the giggle Diane :)

Of course the 'monster' is the white spot the arrow points to, but the brain structure in this view of the cerebrum does look rather monstrous, and I thought it looks a bit like a baby dinosaur, so very Jurassic Park indeed

This white structure was found late in the progression of the disease and it says it is seen in some PALS but not all, so it's not a diagnostic tool per se.
