I don’t post/reply much anymore, I’ve just recently checked in…
But I have to get this off my chest.
In 1967 my parents could not afford to send me college so
I joined the Army to get an education, maybe a trade.
My friends were getting drafted. (None got 5 deferments.)
I knew my chances of going to Vietnam were great but
I thought asking for electronics it would be better than the
Infantry. Well, all those slots were full but with my high math
scores they put me in artillery training. But, said I could apply
for electronics later. Got orders for 1st Field Forces Vietnam.
Old saying, “There’s the right way then there’s the Army way.’
We worked closely with the ARVNs (South Vietnamese
soldiers) and the Montagnards… we left behind to fend for
themselves. But… back then we were given a mission.
I came back and got the education in the Army I needed to go
on in life. I became Projects Manager for a pharmaceutical
packaging machine company that built/installed machines all
over the country for pharmaceutical product companies.
Then I became Project Manager for a petroleum equipment
company. From that I obtained difficult FCC licenses for
Global Marine Distress and Safety System Operators
License (GMDSS) and GMDSS Maintainers License.
Global GPS. I hold three other FCC licenses.
Ok, if you’ve bothered to read all this here’s why…
I am a Decorated Vietnam Combat Veteran, my proudest
award of all is a little blue bar called the “Presidential Unit
Citation”. The guys from my unit.
My distain for the current Commander in Chief and current
occupant of the White House now runs extremely deep.
And… my frustration with any Veteran who holds Trump
in any regard one click above being the low level of disgrace.
(Five deferments for a heel spur yet never stopped playing golf)
Was I a “Sucker” or a “Loser?”
And… Trump to Gen. Kelly at Kelly’s son’s grave…
“I don’t get it,” said Trump. “What was in it for them?
“Duty, Honor; Country”
I was fortunate… they never got a chance to be.
