PALS and CALS take the common Flu seriously. It can be as serious
as COVID and Pneumonia.

I spent two days in the hospital. My PCP got me admitted into the
hospital immediately. I was lucky to get a room. The floor I was on
was full. They wanted me to stay a third day… but they were desperate
for rooms so I was written three prescriptions to take at home.

How I caught the Flu I don’t know. I hadn’t been places where there
were a lot of people… pretty much a home body. Our PCP wrote
Ann a prescription and she had very mild symptoms for a few days.

Wrote all this to say this PALS and CALS… if you have symptoms
like a serious cold coming on.... see your doctor. OTC stuff didn’t work
for me.

I am glad you took it seriously and got good care

You are so right that colds and even more so flu , rsv and covid can be so dangerous especially if you have any respiratory compromise.

As I have said before a cold killed my sister. She was young and otherwise healthy but ALS had affected her breathing

Wishing you a full recovery. Thank you for sharing

Thanks for the reminder, Al. I'm mostly a homebody, too. I think my greatest risk is at doctors' offices. I'm going to start wearing a mask again for appointments. I've never had the flu or Covid, but I've lost friends and family to Covid. Now that the snowbirds are back in Florida, a host of germs are coming with them. Not to mention the Daytona 500 and bike week.

Hope you are feeling well soon.

I am beginning to to feel better. My desk looks like a pharmacy along with my other
meds. I had to make up a time sheet when to take each. Now my stomach is
bothering and it's probably the meds. Got another med from my PCP...
promethazine for my stomach. Lined it up with the rest of them. At least I take
the last of three tomorrow

Thanks for a reminder....I was in two doctors offices where there were several
people, a few without masks as I was wondering how I got the Flu. Maybe.

I'm down to 150 pounds from a once muscular 230 pounds. I've given a lot of
pants and shirts to relatives. I stopped drilling new holes in my belts... I now
use a bungee cord. Ann has helped me buy new pants and shirts that fit good.
At least I'm dressed nice now. :)

That's good advice. I am definitely a homebody and don't go out. My husband runs all the outside errands.

My doctors all do video calls and my PCP that I've been with for 30 years will come to my house if necessary. I'm very lucky.

I need a haircut so my beautician is going to open her shop for me on Sunday so I can be the only person in the shop. It's good to have a good support system where people will work with you.

Just in from the CDC...

"For the first time since 2020, Covid is now killing fewer people than flu across the US, official figures show."

Pneumonia is second behind the Flu.

This current cold weather system sweeping across a large portion of the country isn't helping.

PALS and CALS... get your Flu and Pneumonia shots.
