Texas Medicaid and ALS

Does anyone have any experience with Medicaid in Texas and ALS. My Mother-in-Law was just denied nursing home care through Medicaid because it wasn't medically necessary?

Hi i have als bulbar onset am from canada all i seem to here is nightmare stories about the american health care system ,what is the difference between medicade or if you have private insurance ,seems if you are using either lots of people fall thru the cracks that are in need of healthcare and assistance.

dmoffatt1 ... I don't know anything about Texas medicade, but your local ALSA (ALS assoc.) rep should be able to help you manage the paperwork jungle. Also ... have you connected with Muscular Dystrophy Assn? (Jerry's Kids). They fund treatment for ALS patients, too. One of these organizations should come through for you.
