About 3 weeks ago I felt like my tongue was tingling so i took a look at it in my mouth at rest and noticed that thing moving about. Its done it for 3 weeks straight now. The degree on how bad it is does change threw out the day and sometimes it's in different spots but mostly the back right and ive noticed when i first wake up in the morning its hardly there.
A week and a half ago i started having pain in the joints in my jaw tingling in my cheeks some teeth pain when i eat and a scalloped tongue forming, 3 days into this jaw pain i developed a lisp with certain things i say it looks like my tongue gets stuck between my teeht when i talk. And i read some forums where people said they had a lisp. But mine isnt cause my tongue wont move its like it overshoots my teeth. Now for the past 5 days ive had such a constant dry mouth where when i spit i hardly get any saliva out and i drink tons of water i can drink water eat soup and most saucey foods fine but other foods that would be considered dry are hard to get down i get them to the back of my throat but its like it wont go down could be due to saliva i guess

I can take my tongue and clean all my teeth with it. Stick it out, wiggle it about, which normally causes jaw discomfort. Im just curious if bulbar als symptoms would all dump out like that in the spand of 3 weeks or if it sounds like anything youve heard or read. Ive seen people say it was a lisp for them instead of slurred speech but i can feel my tongue movw when i talk. I'm sorry for everyone going through this but my drs appointment isn't for a week and it's got me to the point I can't function during the day...I thought asking here may help calm me

Hi,

Please read here: Read Before Posting because it covers everything you have posted and provides answers. In it you will read that nothing you have posted has anything to do with ALS. Your doctor's appointment should also reassure you.

Take care

Maybe I missed it but I was more worried about the speech problems and the lisp I'll reread it and the fact that swallowing food has become a problem but not like water and soups.

Please see your doctor for an exam first before assuming you have a terminal disease. The information you get from the internet is not as useful as what you will get from a medical professional. There are many reasons for what you are experiencing, starting with things like allergies or dehydration and a doctor can help you with that.

I went to both my dr and my dentist today who seemed to confirm the tongue problem and lisp are all connected due to then tension in my jaw. That my tongue cramps up from all the tensing and clenching and then when i relax it's spams more than twitches. And I do it constantly during the day so it keeps spasming plut i have developed tongue thrust. conformed tmj with xrays my jaw is highly unaligned. And all of this can cause the dry mouth/swallowing trouble as it also affects your neck. Thank you for letting me post here and commenting to help me reflect back to the stickys

Thank you for letting us know. We are happy for you It is also helpful to other worried people to see that going to the right doctors/ dentists can give speedy answers that are happily fixable!
