Hi All,

My mom has bulbar ALS and was recently diagnosed with an early stage of breast cancer. The doctors have put her on Tamoxifen to shrink the tumor. We are aware of the trials done with ALS patients and the possible positive side effects of Tamoxifen on progression.

What I'm curious about is if anyone has any experiences to share about the common day-to-day side effects of the drug, we're particularly interested in coughing and how much it might induce.

Thanks!

Hi Anitra,

I am sorry to hear of your mom's health issues. Many years' ago when tamoxifen was touted as a possible ALS therapeutic, I persuaded my neurologist to proscribe it for me. Being male, I was always somewhat bemused when picking up my prescription at the pharmacy. I dropped it when ALS trials showed no benefit. However I do not remember having any side effects.
