Hi, I am a 24 year old, male, law student and my main symptom has been twitching throughout my body for the past 15 months. I have not noticed any weakness anywhere.

This started as stiffness/tightness in my left wrist which is still there. I have felt a “weird” feeling in my left foot but have not tripped or been unable to walk or walk on heels, toes.

Throughout my entire body, I often have many joints cracking when moving or lifting weights and hip/back pain when laying down in bed.

Further, when tying a fly when fly fishing, I have noticed a lot of shaking in my left hand and sometimes when holding objects. Although unrelated, I have frequent nausea specifically in the afternoon.

I have gone to my family doctor and had blood tests in May. I had low key electrolytes and vitamin D. I have been taking supplements for both and nothing has changed.

Blood tests for nutrient status are not all that. I would try for a total diet/exercise makeover, especially stretches morning and night and a food/symptom diary. Presuming as a law student, you spend hours studying and keyboarding, I would also take a hard look at your bed, chair, and desk/table setups. The good news is that nothing you have mentioned sounds like ALS.

Best,
Laurie

Thank you for the response. Additionally, my total CK level is 256, is this indication of anything? Also, it’s been 17 months since my first symptoms, would I be experiencing a profound weakness if it is ALS?

That is usually a normal value and no , cpk Is not really meaningful in diagnosing ALS

yes if you had ALS you would have significant weakness. Weakness is the hallmark of ALS from the onset

Clinical weakness of ALS can only be determined by a Neurologist or Muscular
Specialist. But, you have posted that is not a symptom, comment below...

Stiffness, tightness, feeling weird, shaking while tying a fishing fly should have
never led you to an ALS web site.... being a law student which I am sure your
research skills are better than this.

If you're going to a lawyer... your post isn't getting you off to a good start :)

PS. Maybe you missed it...
