Hi just want to thank anyone that takes time to look at this and say I have read the stickies which have helped a little. So a little about me I’m 37yr old female and around 8 weeks ago I noticed my thumb twitching and physically moving as the weeks went on I noticed that I had twitching In both arms and legs and slowly everywhere else , although the thumb had slowed down with the twitching I also have an achy/ burning sensation in my arms and feel heavy struggling to do anything at the moment due to this as it is constant and anxiety . GP hasn’t noticed any weakness as such and I am awaiting a neuro referral ,just recently I have been having lots of jerks falling a sleep and also a full body inner tremor when waking from sleep along with tightness in my abdomen I know it’s a long one and I know your not doctors but I’m so anxious around this , thankyou

Burning sensation and no weakness points away from ALS.

This is what I have read on the forum Thankyou

Just wondering 🤔 my twitches have slowed but are more powerful if that makes sense muscle pain when using my arms mainly , twitching was bad this morning especially with stretching sorry again my anxiety is awful and I know I make it worse x

Hello,

Can you please make sure to read here: Read Before Posting? It explains that twitching absent clinical weakness, tremor sensation, and sensory issues like pain point elsewhere.

If you are struggling with overwhelming anxiety, you can address this immediately while you wait for your next medical appointment by working with a qualified therapist or counselor to find some tools to help you. One of the first things they would advise you to do is eliminate triggers, such as engaging in forums for terminal diseases and searching online for your symptoms. NoMorePanic is a great online resource as well.

Take care

Sorry Thankyou I know I’m driving myself crazy I have read through it and it did help and then bang new symptom and sends me over the edge thankyou for your response and advice x

Had EMG clean on all four limbs and under chin got neuro for clinical on the 10th although it is clean I am worried with the pain in my arms still being present and then that my back or ribs wasn’t checked even though I have twitches there or am I being to over anxious just want to say thankyou for replies that I have received x

You are absolutely being overanxious. You were already told that pain without clinical weakness points away from ALS. It is completely unnecessary to emg every twitching area and it sounds like you had an extremely thorough emg. Screening is more often done on one side only. The under the chin checked your bulbar area

Thankyou for replying I am seeking help for my anxiety as I know I have lost control , hopefully pain will subside when I start to feel better in mental health

Had my clinical today and all seemed to go well only took 30minutes and neuro didn’t do Hoffman reflex is this normal ??but stated that I was ok all was clean and with my EMG that was performed by neurophysiology being clean he thinks this may be BFS and that at the moment no further action he wasn’t phased by the pain I have been having and said it can be linked , now I have to figure a way past my anxiety Thankyou for all your straight reply’s as that is what I needed

Given a normal emg and normal clinical exam omitting Hoffman reflex doesn’t matter especially as that is positive in a significant percentage of the healthy population. 30 minutes for a neuro exam is actually a long time.

thankyou for confirming that I can’t get past the pain but know that I need to or look else where Thankyou again for your advice xx

Hi sorry 😔 but I have a question should I be worried with the pain in my arms and is now in my hands ,fingers, thumbs ?? I know I have had the clean emg but I was stupid and read that it can be to early , also if I was symptomatic in my arms when having the emg would it have picked up anything bad ?? Sorry I appreciate your time and I am going to be seeing a neuro again but it’s a long wait x

AGAIN pain without clinical weakness is not an ALS symptom. So you don’t have ALS symptoms but yes the emg would have pocked up anything it could ( which includes als but not things like arthritis)

We do not have resources to keep reassuring you. Closing thread. Do not start another
