Hi - saw an interesting article in the Vancouver Sun, Monday, March 13 -
Study finds stems cells strengthen cardiac muscle damaged by heart attack.
Atlanta - Stem cells extracted from bone marrow strengthened cardiac muscle damaged by a heart attack, researchers reported today. A study of 17 test patients found that injecting the stem cells into impaired cardiac muscle increased the heart's pumping action by a "moderate" amount......................................The patients on average had a heart pumping action that was only about 1/3 normal strength. The cells increased the muscle functioning to about 39% of what a heart is normally campable of doing. Much more research needs to be done to determine how many cells to infuse into the heart and how best to administer the cells in order to improve the therapy.
If it works in the heart muscle it should work in our muscles - right? There is always hope. We just have to live long enough...................ruby from vancouver

Ruby,
Do you know if there are any doctors/researchers out there that are trying this with ALS patients?
