Hi Everyone,

Almost 5 months have gone and i am still searching on what is going on.
Fasciculations are still present especially after drinking nights (rare recently) but also i feel them daily even though not so much as before.
Weakness is present one month now and is felt on my right wrist/arm --- Doctors say that they can't diagnose weakness but i feel strange. I had an operation in the bicep area of that arm 7 years ago so maybe that strange feeling comes from there.
Additionally i made several EMGs in that area, as well as to other areas (mainly all my body) and all Doctors were really reassuring.
Im checking all my body for atrophy but gladly haven't been able to identify any.
I have been recently again to some neurologists and neuromuscular specialists and after extended medical tests they are also reassuring.
No brisk reflexes, can't find fasciculations during check, and no weakness...
I can't take my mind out of this odd feeling of my right hand. Its odd. Things seem heavier when i lift them with the right than the left... Still no weakness found from the Drs or any muscle fibs fascics or pw during EMG..
I am so worried that i will wake up one day and i won't be able to lift things... Does Arm weakness start like that slowly or by now it should have been detected by the doctors?

Thanks for taking the time to read my post

As stated, Clean EMG = it's not ALS.
No clinical weakness, no clinical signs of upper motor neuron disorder, multiple neuros telling you you don't have ALS = ... well, heck, why would you believe me if you don't believe them? They're doctors and have actually examined you.

You know you don't have ALS and the doctors can't find anything else wrong with you. Stop focusing on trying to find something wrong with you. Some day you may... and you won't be happy about it.

Hi Dusty7 - you are right. My concern though is that what I'm feeling in my right arm over a month now is strange. When I lift things they look heavier than when I lift with my left arm.
2 things peace my mind with it. First because I had an arm in bicep area (radial nerve) operation 7 years ago (even though it's strange that this feeling started just 1 month ago) and second that during this month I made multiple EMGs in several muscles of this arm and back. I believe that if the weakness was due to ALS then EMGs would have picked some fibs or fascics etc. ONLY finding in 1 of the 3 EMG of this arm was slightly high amplitude MUP in one muscle over the forearm which the doctor said that might be due to my old injury. The other two EMGs haven't picked that either.
What really scares me is this weakness feeling and the possibility to grow. That's why I want to know how really arm weakness in ALS starts. Thanks again

sorry about that remark and I apologize for it. This forum seems bombarded by those who think first they have ALS and have been told by competent health care professionals that they don't...and it is usually the same thing - a perceived weakness or twitch. not to make light of those symptoms but when you sneeze it isn't generally lung cancer. I am curious and I ask Panos here and now what possible sequence of symptoms led you to this forum?

If I/we, knew that train of logic perhaps we could be of better help in finding the derailment and getting wheels up and running. But in honesty, there is is a person a day, it seems, who asks the same general questions and has come to the same conclusions or concerns against the opinion and diagnosis of docs.

I think that it is great that your EMGs came back clean. I would say that if you are having other symptoms the proper place to address them would be with your doctor(s).
