Just observations.... nothing very deep.
My dad is at a fairly late stage of ALS. Has choking episodes, and nowdays talks entirely thru a Lightwriter keyboard text to speech gadget.
We've noticed that when he talks he coughs alot. I get concerned that his getting breathing problems and suggest we go to a bathroom and clear him out. But he's typed out that it's actually not the problem.
When he types, he's talking. In his head this little gadget has become firmly wired into his speech system. So when he types, his throat instinctively tries to do it's job. And he coughs.
As I said, not a big deal. Just amazing how adaptable the human body can be under difficulty.
