Hi -

About a month and a half ago I had tremors in my left hand between index finger and thumb that kept me up at night. Went to the doctor and she sent me to sports doctor thinking it was compressed nerve. By that time had fasciculations all over my body including tremor on left hand ring finger that caused it shake. He took one look at me and was concerned because of atrophy and weakness of area between thumb and index finger and said my calves were underdeveloped. To test weakness of thumb and index finger, had me try and hold a piece of paper between thumb and index finger and apparently I didn't do well. He was pretty concerned about ALS and hooked me up with a specialist who I see on Wednesday. He did a neck MRI and didn't see anything. What other things might this be?

Thanks

Many things....too much caffeine, too little sleep, vitamin deficiency. There are all sorts of harmless things. Then there are things like multiple sclerosis, etc.

Since you see your specialist Wednesday, write down all your questions and get them answered. I hope you are seeing a neurologist who specializes in movement issues or the like. They will probably order an emg to see what your muscles are doing.

Thanks. Yes, I am seeing a neurologist who specializes in movement issues or the like.

Thanks again.

Hi Todd
You say in your side bar that you have been diagnosed with ALS, why are you asking, these questions?
