Hi everyone my first post here after thinking countless time should I post or not
It's started 2 months ago 24-07-2021with
Heavy bicep feeling
That spreaded to entire arm/hand and right leg/foot and now if I do some work right arm and leg trembles and fatigues after little exertion
A mild impact is on left side
15-aug-2021 a mild pulling feeling under tongue while moving around gums to clear food (I ignored)
It's worsened now
Tongue feels so stiff and Trembles almost after talking and eating
I can push against cheeks and can't hold it for longer (wch is extremely abnormal for me)
I can stick out upside and all but will difficulty
And yes slurring speech
My husband says he didn't notice but I am super aware of my words
For example if I speak 100 sentences in a day I will slurr on 70sentances ( in terms of taking more power to speak and mispronouncing words )
While eating I feel problem in moving food in mouth with tongue
My jaw jerk is positive (self examine,no Dr performed but it's clearly visible)
MRI spine MRI lumber MRI brain (All clean)Emg 2 arms normal ( 1month ago) tested for MG (normal)
Other reflexes are normal
Can walk on toe etc
Had been to neurologist who said no nerve disease and stress is the cause
At that time my tongue problem was not my concern so I didn tell him
I can ignore my weakness in right arm and leg but tongue stiffness and slurring and exerting force to speak is bothering me alot (swalloing ok) my lips cheeks jaw and tongue (All are stiffening)
Is jaw jerk always means mnd ?
I will be grateful for any advice
Prayers and love for all

No, jaw jerk, especially self-assessed, can mean lots of things besides ALS, including anxiety, stress, and nothing at all. The pulling feeling on your tongue could be dryness, an infection or cut, a bit of food, allergies...so many things. I would ask your dentist about this. S/he can look using your phone camera if that helps.

Please make an appointment with the neuro or another doctor, even by telehealth, so you can be reassured about this. And if your husband doesn't think you're slurring, you're not. The mind can make you hear and speak differently. As you have read, twitches alone are not important.

Best,
Laurie

What happened with my husband was that he felt totally normal, and people started asking him (and me) if he had been drinking ... not good when you are asked that at 7 am!
There is no one symptom that always means MND.
It sounds like you are very anxious, please return to your doctor and ask what directions should be next, and then follow the medical advice.
Also you need to read the post in this link as we went to a lot of trouble to create this to help you.

Thank you so much for answering me I read on multiple threads about tongue stiffness and talking and chewing with extra force I have exactly same thing I need to put extra effort to form words.i think I have tongue spasticity and spastic facial muscles (I.e hard to move)
what I heard spasticity present before slurring
Hard to move tongue around
While whistling my lips trembles that I have to give up whistle
I will book appointment sooner
I m totally convinced I have mnd I cry almost. After every hour without showing my husband I live alone here due to my husband job Family and friends are too far

As others have said, this is not and does not sound like MND. Twitches mean squat and if your husband doesn't hear you slurring, you're not. My husband's first sign was slurring his words. His pulmonologist said that he had sounded like he had "one too many drinks". This was at his 9: 30 am appointment so we knew he had not been drinking! My husband had no idea he was slurring his words. Further, never does my husband have a stiff jaw or feel tired chewing or have trembling lips. Feeling tired chewing would be well into the effects of bulbar onset, not at the beginning.

I'm sorry you have convinced yourself you have a disease that you show no signs of having. Are you a neuromuscular specialist? What type of MD are you to diagnose yourself? In any case, even MDs don't diagnose themselves and need an objective opinion. If you are crying everyday, I truly think its best to talk to a professional about that. You want to be able to show up and be present for your young children.

Good luck to you.

I'm so sorry you are totally convinced as this must be very depressing and causing you a lot of anxiety.
Please get help. We can't really do anything here as you don't present with anything ALS, but your doctor can help you.
