Luke 2:25-32
And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon;
and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel:
and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
And he came by the Spirit into the temple:
and when the parents brought in the child Jesus,
to do for him after the custom of the law,
Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
Lord, now let thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:
For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;
A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

God of us all,

We want to all be Simeon. We want to be as devout as he was. We want to have the faith that he had. Simeon waited and listened and believed. And when the Holy Spirit told him, he went to the temple and found the child Jesus. You, God, answered Simeon's prayers. His life was now complete. We have the opportunity, God, to find Jesus and make him a part of our lives. We read of his wonders. We rejoice in his blessings. We know if we take Jesus into our hearts, we can make this world better. May we not just celebrate this birth each December, but may we make it a part of our daily celebrations. And may our lives be filled with truth and grace. May we become more like Jesus each day.
