Hi everyone on here who takes their time to help others like me.

I am fairly young and I know this disease is probably a long shot, but I dont know what else to make of my symptoms...

August: neck pain headache
September: headache worse, ear ringing, nausea and vomiting
October: still neck pain... Headache, pain in eye by eyebrows... And left shoulder blade
November: had brachial plexus Mri (normal), emg (normal)
December: tendons snapping over bones in elbows shoulders knees, popping in feet. Then the twitching started.
January: noticed some differences in hand.. Left hand a lot thinner... Thenar muscles slightly flatter and twitching started in arms and hand. Toward the end of January twitching Is everywhere except tongue ... (Butt abdomen arms hands head face!) Driving me nuts! Some twitches are big and some feel just like a buzzing. And skin is dry and crazy itchy! I'm a medical assistant... And I've noticed my scrub pants are more loose in the left side around thigh and glut... That side is always falling down.
February: symptoms persists... Saw neuro on the 19th... Says normal exam... However didn't look closely to see if limbs on left are smaller. No twitching while I was at the appt. neuro states if I had the disease he would see the twitches. So he's going to send me for another emg and mri of neck... But lately I've been noticing that I drop things more often...but I can still button and turn a key and doorknob. I'm very scared.

Did anyone have these crazy symptoms in early stages?!

Pain, headache, nausea, vomiting, ears ringing all have nothing to do with ALS.

Clean emg says no ALS.

There are so many other things that can cause weakness and fasciculations, please forget about ALS. Get the additional tests and trust your neuro! Best of luck!

I had lab work done as well..

Everything normal! Except for deficiency in vitamin D... Which I have been taking vitamin d!

I even got tested for autoimmune! NORMAL

What else could be causing twitching... And weakness... And possibly atrophy?!

That's a great question for your neuro!

Youngandrestless - I am in the same boat as you, my friend. I am taking vitamin d capsules once a week. I had a normal EMG in October and an abnormal one showing a chronic radiculopathy. Unfortunately, there was no evidence of radiculopathy on my C-spine MRI in the area affected on the EMG, so I have an appt with the Emory ALS specialist a week from today.

Glad you got a normal EMG though. My GP did say Vitamin D issues can definitely cause weakness, twitching and sometimes even atrophy. What were your levels at? Mine was 19.

Mine was at 17. Im very nervous because I am only 24. How far apart were your emg

October 17th and January 2nd. I just turned 28. Just keep in mind, as one poster says on here, the incidence of ALS in people under 30 is 1 in 1 million. Work on your vitamin D and hopefully some of your issues will dissipate. In the meantime, I also take lexapro for anxiety. If you feel like you need medication for the mental side of things, there is no harm in it. Just know that ALS at 24 is very very very unlikely. That is very low vitamin D, so focus on that first.

If it isn't als (which a clean EMG indicates) this is the wrong place to ask.

Consider yourself lucky and search elsewhere for answers (like your neuro!). :^}

Did you have any pain?

Perhaps I was too subtle:

You don't have als, go away.

:)

Ditto that!

Okay... I'm sure when you were going through some scary symptoms leading up to your diagnosis you were quite frazzled. I'm asking for help... No need to be awfully rude about it. And not to mention I was asking hunterross258; because he stated he and I were in the same boat. You don't have to respond if you didn't actually have anything nice to say.

Young and hunter feel free to communicate through visitor messages if you wish. Closing this now
