Scholarships for PALS' Teenage & college-aged children

I'm not sure which forum to put this in but on a forum on reddit a young man whose father passed away from ALS was bringing his family's scholarship fund to everyone's attention.

There will be 6 $2,500 scholarships given to students who were/are in high school or college when their parents were diagnosed with ALS. All you have to do is write an essay. THE DEADLINE IS IN A FEW WEEKS

I hope this is useful to someone! Please spread the word if you know someone who would qualify. There aren't that many young people who qualify so there's a good chance of getting it!

Special consideration will be given to people around the california area but students from ANYWHERE in the US can apply.

The applicant's parent must have been diagnosed when they were/are in high school or college. The student must currently be a senior in high school or already in college.

Please spread the word to anyone you think may be eligible/may have kids that are eligible

Nope, students from anywhere in the US can apply but special consideration (meaning it's an advantage but nothing more) to those who live in Iowa and the following counties in Southern California: Ventura, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Imperial, Riverside, and San Bernardino. I got this part from the other link but apparently it's not included in the updated one. Basically any kid in the US who fits all the other criteria can apply. There are 6 scholarships so the chances are good regardless of where in the US they live!

The student's parent must have been diagnosed when the student was/is in high school or college and the student must currently be a senior in high school planning on a 4-year college or currently enrolled fulltime in college.

Please spread the word to any PALS you know whose child might fit the criteria.
If you do spread the word spread it quickly because the deadline is on the 29th and paperwork (confirmation of having a parent of ALS) has to be done within that time. If the student wins the scholarship they can apply again the next year
