Hello, I'm back just to check in. I have posted in the past due to weakness/ muscle stiffness in my right leg. It is progressing.

I have a history of a negative emg, and mri brain/cervical/thoracic/lumbar spine in november 2024. I have lived in constant discomfort since that time. I have intermittent burning/tingling to my right leg. The muscles are stiff/weak. I have pain from my right low back to my thigh and lateral leg. It is intermittent worse to certain locations but always present. I have fallen a few times. I saw neurology after testing whom documented no weakness but when i completed physical therapy, they documented 4/5 strength to my right leg. I saw pain management who didn't feel they could explain the symptoms, tried a trochanteric injection without improvement.

I am just coming back to see if a repeat emg is ever needed. Can they initially be negative and come back positive later? I am praying this is a weird nerve or muscular problem that will eventually improve but with six months of symptoms it's hard to keep thinking that way. No one can tell me why I feel this way. I am in constant discomfort and the weakness feels to be progressing. It is becoming hard to drive as my leg just feels weak. I have not lost function it is simply decreased. I am starting to feel pretty depressed and just wondering if anyone has had similar symptoms and needed to repeat testing, or has any advice. thanks for your time.

It's not just harder to do things when ALS presents. You can't do them.

As well, burning/tingling are not typically part of ALS onset. So I don't think another EMG is going to suddenly show motor neuron damage. Are you saying there was improvement with PT or no?

I certainly wouldn't do any more procedures or injections without a diagnosis that supports that course of treatment, but you might want to try therapeutic massage and re-evaluate everything you sleep/sit/work/drive on.

pt isn't helping. i'll try therapeutic massage and an ergonomic evaluation at work. thank you
