Regular Medicare vs Advantage.

Open enrollment is now closed, so I'm late with my comments. Another thing to watch for when choosing an Advantage Plan is the out-of-pocket maximum offered by the plan. I have one that caps out-of-pocket medical expense at $2,900 annually. This figure does not include co-pays for prescription drugs. Part D has it's own rules.

I got my PWC in November. My plan paid 80%, but the out-of-pocket maximum kicked in, so my cost was about $850 on a $30,000 chair. I'm still blown away by the price--more than any car I've ever owned.

If a person can afford the premium, original Medicare (Parts A & B), and a supplement (Medigap), plus Part D for prescription coverage is definitely the way to go.
