Laurie, to be clear where I wasn't... I should have said combat zones.

This would not apply to those serving in Germany, Spain, England and such.

Mostly Afghan, Iraq, Syria, the countries of Africa and others.

Right you are Al. The majority of our fresh meat and produce came from the local economy in the UK. This is why my son, my wife and myself can never give blood or donate organs since we ate British Beef, which potentially exposed us to vCJD, the human variant of BSE, otherwise known as Mad Cow disease.

Dave, whether all above is a factor to the ALS numbers will be a continuing
debate.

In Viet Nam on remote fire bases our food was C-Rations and LRP Rations.
(The early version of today's MREs... when they were experimenting with it.
Yikes!)

Each had packs of cigarettes in the boxes too. :)

There are some Neuro web sites that suggest that smoking may contribute
to ALS.
