Was hoping for feedback from this useful group on their experience with radiation therapy for secretion management. To date, we have been managing my PALS secretions with a combination of scopolamine patches, glyco subQ injections (pills were not effective and he now takes injections every 4 hours even through the night), mucinex, suction machine, etc.

My PALS asked his neurologist about ablation of salivary glands and we went int last week to have a radiation therapy consult and CT simulation. He will be starting a 5-day course of RT to his parotid on one side next week.

I was just curious about the experience of other PALS that have gone through this - any advice, things to look out for and results.

Thanks!

My Pals is scheduled to see a radiologist next week. It's for a consult but think he will try it. Patches etc just thicken everything up so harder to clear his lungs.
