Marta, I can't address most of what you ask any better than I already have, but 3 y 7 mo of fasciculations without clinical weakness speaks for itself. You don't have ALS. Time is a variable.

And that is time you are wasting, when you could be living. People here with ALS don't have that relatively healthy time.

You say you "don't find many other possible diagnoses." If you read the forums here, you'll see many, but the #1 alternative that comes up is obsession with chronic abnormalities that should not affect your life.

Thank you very much Igelb:
I do not understand why the neuromuscular specialist has taken away the only thing I was holding on to, which was the passage of time telling me that as long as I continue to experience fasciculations and have an emg with a muscle that meets suspicion criteria, it cannot be ruled out based on time.

His words and his request for a follow-up at three months based on suspicion criteria have hurt me a lot because the first time he attended to me the situation was the same and he tried to reassure me even after the neurophysiologist had told me about the focal point but This time he told me the opposite, I don't know if because he doesn't get his fingers caught if something happens or because something in my story really has made him change his mind. I hope that in three months everything will remain the same.
Thank you very much for your attention always.

Honestly, Marta, the neuromuscular specialist most likely told you this because you simply will not let this deep fascination with ALS go after all these years. He's not suspicious of you having ALS, he knows it when he sees it, and you ain't got it. Capeesh?

Check out a disorder called nosophobia disorder, and that more closely resembles what you may have going on. I do recommend seeking help for it. It's a crippling disease and can ruin someone's life.

At this time, there's really nothing else the folks can say to you. Please think of others and move on from this forum.

Good luck to you and I sincerely wish you the best.

Marta, I am closing this thread. Please do not start another. It is not healthy for you.

You do not have to worry about ALS. If you still do, you can seek counseling for these fears. You have that choice, and I hope you take it.
