I had an NCV/EMG test last month (see attached) ordered by a spinal surgeon last month. He had done an MRI earlier that didn’t show anything that would require surgery.
The Doctor that performed the NCV/EMG said I may have small fiber neuropathy and ordered a biopsy to confirm.
My question is, from what I understand small fiber neuropathy cannot be diagnosed on a NCV/EMG test.
I was wondering if the test results actually show something more serious that he did not share.

Doctors don't hide things from their patients. If they have suspicions, they follow them up and don't obscure them from official reports. They also wouldn't waste their colleagues' and your time sending you to clinics for something they don't think you have a real possibility of having. With regards to your report, is there a reason you are not asking your doctor how they concluded small fibre neuropathy?

New to all of this so I’m not sure. I went to the Dr ( Neurologist that specializes in surgery) after the test and he said that you have issues with your legs. I’ll see you after you get the biopsy done.
Not sure where the Dr that performed the test came up with small fiber neuropathy.

It's just not clear why you're posting on an ALS forum. Have you read the Read Before Posting ? Sensory issues like numbness point away from ALS, which is reassuring for you. Perhaps it might be a good idea to speak with your doctor about your test results so you can ask them directly why they concluded as they did.
