Hello, I am a new member. My mother-in-law has ALS, into her 2nd year of diagnosis. She is confined to a wheelchair, no use of lower legs, trunk muscles and developing shoulder/arm pain. What is the progression of the disease? Does it have stages like cancer does so we know what to expect next, or is it just a wait and see. She has full-time care, but is holding her own at this time.
Just could not find any type of info. on the progression/stages of decline.

Please share any information so I can pass along to the family. Thanks. : :?:

HI nelson Unfortunately there is no real pattern to this disease it could slow up and then speed up or stay the way it is for a while. i was slow for 6 years and now I am getting more progression I am in my 8th years so I cant complain. I am sorry about your motherinlaw

thanks

Thanks for the reply, I know the disease is not "predictable" but hoped we could have some sense of what's to come and when.
