Saw The Movie Pride Of The Yankees Last Night - A 1942 Biopic About Lou Gherig

Als Was Not Actually Named In The Movie - And They Just Kept Taking X-rays To Diagnose Lou - Gary Cooper Played Lou - And He Was Pretty Good At Acting Out Some Early Symptoms - Like Trying To Tie A Bow Tie

After Watching The Movie - I Actually Lost A Lot Of Respect For Cal Ripken Jr. For Beating Lou's Record For 2,130 Consecutive Games Played Lou Had To Stop Cause Of Als - If Ihad Been Cal I Would Have Just Tied Lou's Record

Hi rcharlton,

I saw the movie last night too. That x-ray thing put me off quite a bit. I didn't think when he fell off the chair, that that was very realist. The Bow Tie was good, but he had no Bulbar symptoms, and he was still able to walk without any problem.

Agree with you that I lost a lot of respect for Cal Ripken Jr. For beating Lou's record. If Lou didn't get ALS, he would have never been beaten for consecutive games.

I came away quite depressed after I watched the movie. Took me a few hours to compose myself.

BTW, I got my MRI today, with the results in a few days.

Annmarie/Patricia

I purchased "The Pride Of The Yankees" months ago. I have not watched it yet.

Annmarie,

You are only 40? I will be 44 next month. You had PM'd me about my Doctors visit with the Specialist/Researcher. I think you and Cindy were the only one's that had caught on! My EMG and NCV came out clean. He said that my Nerves and Muscles were of a young woman 16-20 years old, and that he rarely ever sees that at my age. He would never see me as having any MND. (I was happy about that). He said I did not need a Neuro. He is going to get my other Doc. to do a Thyroid Test and Magnesium and Calcimum Test. I thought this had already been done. My fasiculations were very obvious. I said OK. (whatever) If these test come out clean, the next Doctor I find is going to be a "Psychiatrist".

It gets very frustrating, especially when I see Tim's fasciculations/cramps and mine seem
the same. (I do not want ALS, but somebody is going to find out what the problem is).

Patricia, Not to scare you, because you never know and I don't know your story, but my Brother Timothy had Symptoms for seven years before ALS was suspected. Keep us tuned in.

Lorie-still sane? :-D Just kidding, my friend. I hope they find out what is causing your symptpms, too. Don't forget you know your body better than anyone so don't let folks tell you it is all in your head.

Annmarie- Happy Birthday! I am sorry you won't be able to cdelebrate by playing video games with your son. I bet you miss that! Maybe you guys can find another hobby to do together? Hope so.

Conrad, buddy! So good to hear from you. Please keep us informed about the results.

Best to all, Cindy

I have to rejoice in the ability to lie on the couch and watch a movie with my family, it is the small things isnt it?

You are so right, my friend. Not to say you aren't allowed to feel sorry for yourself and grieve you loss of health. But after awhile that gets old and, as Frizzel says, "time to put opn the big girl pants.":-D Have a great Birthday, Annmarie! Cindy
