Dear ALS family and friends,

A guy I know lives up in Long Beach CA area is taking this Pramipexole 22.5ml twice a day and he can't talk so good and his wife is his primary caregiver and doesn't have alot of time for fool questions from me...

So I was wondering if any of you brainiacs knows about this drug ?

It's a dopamine agonist for the treatment of Parkinsons disease. I think there has been some talk that it may work in ALS, but no evidence that the theory is in anyway fact. Others may know more?

The Dexi trials that a lot of folks at PLM and a few here are involved in is actually dexipramipexole, a chemical cousin of pramipexole. Dexi doesn't have the dopamine affecting properties of pramipexole.

The best place to get more detailed information on that is probably the ALS TDI forum.

Knew I had heard of it! :)

I asked my ALS neuro and the bottom line is the slight chemical differences keep it form being effective in safe doses.
