Hello, thank you for accepting me in this community, at least there is a place where we can be heard and understood.

My symptoms started about a month ago, I felt weakness in my hands and legs and felt like they were heavy and sometimes I couldn't feel them at all, accompanied by muscle twitching ( fasciculations) and involuntary movement of the little toe and my pinky , I also felt a lump in my throat and difficulty swallowing sometimes with a feeling of heaviness and tingling in the tongue sometimes,

I rushed to the neurologist who did a physical examination and gave me a blood test for the muscle enzyme CPK and did an electromyography EMG. The physical examination was normal but the muscle enzyme CPK was slightly elevated. After the examination, he told me that I am in good health and that all my symptoms are caused by anxiety and that I should try to forget about them. He prescribed some vitamins for me.

The problem is that I still feel these symptoms. Although they sometimes improve, they come back and get worse again, especially in the hands and feet. I get tired quickly and feel muscle weakness and heaviness in the fingers. Should I look for another neurologist because I am frankly lost and feel terribly anxious? Thank you very much.

Hello-

Please make sure to read here: Read Before Posting. It outlines what is and more importantly, what is not a symptoms of ALS. Sensory issues (tingling, numbness), involuntary movements and intermittent feeling of heaviness all point toward some other issue. Twitching is very common and can mean many things, including nothing at all.

While you can still feel your symptoms, which makes your worries hard to ignore, ALS is not the issue. I am not saying nothing is wrong, only that ALS is not what you describe here. Post viral issues, nutrition, a change in fitness, sleep issues and stress can all cause this type of thing, so perhaps you may need to address something there. It can take time. If you are feeling terribly anxious about it, you must also address this important aspect of your health too.

Take care

thank you very much for your response and clarification . I hade a vitamin D3 test yesterday and the result was 21.03 ng/ml which means that Viamin D levels are in Suboptimal rate. does Viamin D defficiency can make this symptoms ?
thanks in advance and sorry for the long questions .

Vitamin d deficiency can certainly make you feel weak and tired. It takes a while to feel better even after you bring the level back up
