Hi everyone! I'm 28F. I have been stressing about my weakness in my limbs. It started with my neck two and half months ago. Severe neck pains and started to feel weakness on the left side leg and arm and then my right arm. In this process I had done some neck exercises and got too far because neck pain was so much painful and normally I don't get neck cracks but I had two painful neck cracks/pop. Maybe this can lead the symptoms. I'm not very sure. Neck pain was gone or very mild after that. I started to feel numbness and tingling in my left foot heel and in my hands but I continued to have very stiff neck and shoulder muscles.

Anyway later on I went to orthopedist. He took an xray gave me steroids. I took them but in the fourth day or so my symptoms persisted and one day my left leg heel became so much tingly and numb and left arm uncoordinated made so much anxious and went ER. It resolved after a couple days and I took MRI of my neck and head. Neurosurgeon couldn't find any problem and sent me neurologist.

In this period I had no more numbness and tingling. I have weakness incoordination in my arms and left leg. I took EMG and it came back normal as well. Neurologist couldn't find anything and told me to wait and see and if it gets worse come back.

Now I still have weakness but maybe right leg feels a bit weak as well. I feel uncoordinated while I'm walking but it is not visible. I started to have fasciculations just before EMG on my left leg which is the weakest and it twitches on the same spot above my knee persistently almost 24/7.

Please help I am stressing about it so much and can't even have a good sleep.

I developed anxiety issues in the process And I don't have clinical weakness yet
I know initial sensory signs point away from ALS but I doubt neck issues and weakness are co existing and doesn’t have any relation or maybe neck issues caused ALS to start
I don’t have neck pains anymore just weakness and neck and shoulder stiffness.

Sensory issues such as tingling and pain point towards something else. You don't have clinical weakness. It sounds like perhaps you've already had an EMG that showed nothing? Regardless, you do not report the pattern of symptoms that indicate a concern for ALS. If you have further concerns, a return to your doctor is recommended, but ALS should not be on your list of things to be worried about. If you are struggling with anxiety, you can definitely seek out support from a therapist for tools to help reduce it while you work with your doctors to figure out what the issue is.

Take care

Thanks for your kind response ☺️ Sure I will go to another round of Emg in several months. My first Emg was almost a week ago and it was normal. But due to that I am young, I thought maybe it only started with UMN and not LMN yet. As a PLS case maybe
