Hi, I posted yesterday, but got no responses, so I am hoping to get some this time. I have been having severe symptoms of ALL OVER muscle twitching, rolling, cramping and weakness for a few weeks. I am desperate because I have a special needs daughter who needs my care day and night. She has PDD-NOS. Anyway, I went to my internist, who is very good, and he took lots of blood. He got half the results back and said everything was okay, and we are waiting on the second half. I want to get the results back so I can see a specialist because I can't go on like this. I am taking valium for the twitching/cramping every four hours, and it barely helps. Can anyone shed some light on my situation? Does it sound like ALS or anything else you know of or are experiencing? I do tend to over-react to things, but this isn't one of those times (at least I don't think so.) I need to be able to function to take care of my girl.

I would appreciate ANY feedback at all. Any words or wisdom.

Thank you.

Hi there. Sorry you had no replies, I am sure people will get back to you. In the meantime, there is a 'sticky' on the top of this section of the forum about twitching and fasciculations, which you may wish to read.

Your symptoms may be due to many, many conditions so please try to calm down while awaiting further test results. Danijela

thanks. i did read that. i guess i wouldn't be as worried if i didn't have horrible cramping and weakness - all over fatigue.

Hi, Violet ...

It's hard for people on this forum to try to guess what's going on with someone neurologically. Your symptoms do not sound at all like ALS to me. Like 99% of the people on this forum, who have no medical knowedge or training, I simply cannot guess what your lab tests may reveal.

I'd suggest you wait till your doctor has the results of the tests he's performed. He can evaluate them and tell you his opinion of your condition, and what you need to do next.

Good luck.

Just hang in there. I know your concerns but You will not get any answers quickly, we have all been there and it just does not seem to work that way. I would drink some tonic water for twitching and go to your appts but dont let the fear consume. I did in the start and it was such a waste of time. All you can do is live your life and hope for the best. I know that it is scary when the twitching starts, it does not seem right! But, there are alot of twitchers/crampers out there that do not have als. No one can tell you if sounds like ALS, Shoot none of us know what our deals are on this part of the forum! I have just learned to be calm about this and go one day at a time.....

best thoughts to you

ALS is not a disease that hammers you over the head in a matter of two weeks. What you describe (if you are giving us all of the details) . . . that is . . . completely fine one day and then almost overnight you're having global symptoms . . . is not at all how ALS presents. Calm down and relax. Stop trying to diagnose yourself and especially with something as severe as ALS. You simply don't fit the typical presentation at all.

I think this board is bursting with awesomeness! I am waiting for Dr. to call and then go from there. I will be here until I get an answer, which according to some of you, might be quite a while.
