Hello,
First off I have found a new respect for spoke living with ALS. My symptoms started 5 months ago. A ER doctor noticed fasciculations in my right calf and referred me to a neurologist. I had 5 strength in all limbs 2 reflexes in all areas in February. I had a clean EMG. at that time. In May I went back for a follow up and my knee reflex’s were 3 plus on both sides but strength was still 5 . I had another EMG and fasciculations were seen in multiple areas and a single positive P wave was seen in my left para spinal muscle.. Fasciculations have spread to both calf’s, thighs, buttocks, fore arm and back but no loss of strength my latest EMG showed increased insertion activity and I was told was (mildly abnormal). I’ve been feeling the sense of hard time swallowing and fear Bulber onset. I’m scared I mean no disrespect but looking for advice all the doctors say is come back in 3 months. This has destroy life quality thank you for your time.

With no loss of strength , ALS is not a concern. Feel free to post the latest EMG with your name blacked out, and we can comment more.
What did the neurologist say ?

Here it is.

It does not show an ALS pattern. The conclusions suggest lumbar radiculopathy and state quite clearly that the findings are not consistent with ALS (“weighs strongly against motor neuron disease”).
