I have been having muscle twitches for over a month now widespread.
Neurol exam was normal and having emg in 2 weeks.

My question: my twitches are always felt but not seen? Is this normal?

I have read about fibrillation, can you feel fibrillation?

Thank you for your time.

If you can't see them, they're a feeling, period.

Fibrillation isn't a word that applies here.

As our stickies note, feelings of twitching alone are meaningless. Stop back by to tell us about your normal EMG.

Best,
Laurie

Hello again.
I have my emg on Wednesday and I am so nervous that something will be wrong. Is it true that if it’s loud the emg results will be bad?

I have been a nervous wreck for almost 2 months now.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

With a normal neuro exam, you don’t have ALS. Your EMG will be normal. You can’t go by what it sounds like.

To quote FDR, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

Thank you so much for your response, it helps greatly.

And, if you're nervous and shaking, it will sound louder.

Relax, you don't have ALS.

I want to thank everyone for their responses it helped me greatly!
I had a clean Emg this morning.

Bless you all!

Thank you for reporting back. Very helpful.

Congratulations

Thanks, Sept, it is helpful to others who find themselves in a similar boat.

Best,
Laurie

Hello again,
Sorry to be back I’m just concerned and need advice.

So I had the emg on upper right extremity and lower left extremity.

I am still having diffuse twitching mostly in my calf muscles.

They mostly twitch when I flex and sometimes I can’t feel them but can see them.

Should I be concerned?

Thank you so much for any responses.

You should NOT be concerned. Twitching means nothing. The clean EMG rules out a bunch of things, ALS included.

Some things that can cause twitching might be caffeine, under-hydration, insufficient nourishment, anxiety.....the list is so long and, sometimes, twitches just happen. Sometimes, they can even cause cramping.

Please stop posting on this board. People are dying or caring for loved ones who are dying.

Sept and anyone with a recent normal EMG and no difficulties in moving...

Please see your doc if your condition worsens, but the really, really good news is that you don't belong here on the ALS board. So instead of obsessing about the disease you don't have, we suggest you live the life those here would give a good deal for (and can't).

Best,
Laurie
