Nikki asked if I could post a picture of my cat "Lonesome" I wrote my story of.

Lonesome passed away a few years ago. I have pictures of him but...

Over the years we have down loaded pictures on CDs and camera cards.

We have a stack of picture CDs with only the date written on the label.

Ann has a small felt cinch sack with 9 camera cards in it. We've taken a lot of
pictures.

I want to find the pictures of Lonesome now... which CD which card?

It's going to take some time but I'll find them. Watch it be the last one. :)

And... find a way to note what is on each for other future reference. :)

Are we the only ones?

Al I am so sorry that I caused so much stress! Please forgive me!

I had inherited slides which I had digitized and am slowly scanning the photos and storing on google photo. It is a lot of work. I sympathize

I consider myself very computer literate. About 15 years ago, I had all my pictures on a laptop and backed them up to another PC and a hard drive storage unit. This was before I bought an iMac or iPhone and before cloud storage, except commercial.

All three devices froze. No problem, I had protection and they were on three drives. I took all three drives to a computer repair store that I had used a few times with excellent results. Something got lost in translation and the person working on my drives erased all my data. It was a hard erase so nothing was found. I lost over 1,500 pictures, most that were only digital. Pictures of my trips, my pets, award ceremonies, and older pictures I scanned and passed to other people.

Fortunately, my other files, which were work related were stored on my work computer.

Sorry for all that work, Al. The good part is you can enjoy the pictures and memories as you go through.

I've been sloppy with files since my diagnosis. I bought new computers, a new phone, and a new iPad and am now in the process of making sure everything is on all devices and the cloud. I have multiple platforms but it's a project for a rainy week, which I hear might start on Sunday.

Nikki, no need to apologize and don't feel sorry.

As i told Ann about it she agreed... there was a much better way we could have
documented our library.

It needs to be done because now she wants old pictures she has remembered.

As much as i thought of "Lonesome" I left his pictures behind. I want to see
them again and save them in a file easy to access. It gives me something to do.

I have an office desk and when I'd do bills he would always find a way to sit
on some of the paper work. After I'd get done launching off a load money
paying the bills I'd tell him, "Yes, there's enough money left to buy cat food."

I have a picture of him sitting on the paper work and him sitting across the
top of my high back office chair Ann took.

It's just so many pictures to scan over. Last year we went to Marco Island
Florida... I'll bet Ann took 500 pictures. What card are they on?
Years ago I went to a Viet Nam Veterans Reunion at the Charlotte Motor
Speedway, between Ann and I we took hundreds of pictures that are on
the CDs. I'd like to see them again. Which CD?

(I did find two guys from my unit. Golly, they looked so old, not the faces
I remembered... time is cruel. To me too.) :)

Again, on the CDs we only put the date we down loaded them not to have
our computers with pages and pages of pictures. But now everything is
on camera cards.

No Nikki, this is something we need to do. As Ann said, "We need to library
our pictures so when something should happen to either we'll need the
pictures for the service.

PS. Kim too.

Al, we have a basket filled with data keys, memory cards and disks tucked away in some dark place. We often say we should go through the pictures, but never get around to it. Pictures of my kid from age 6 through 14, puppy pictures of my old dog Edison, pictures of the 4 cats we had before our current menagerie and all sorts of anniversary, holiday and vacation photos. It's pretty overwhelming to think about. None of them are labeled. I completely understand what you're experiencing.

I wish you and Ann many enjoyable hours of going through all those great memories.

If you guys import those pics from both cards and CDs into a photo app that can detect similar images, like iPhoto for Mac, suppose there is something for Windows, it could group them for you.
