Personal / Medical alarm

I use the battery operated wireless pager system. For about $40 you get a system that has a surprising range, and has a vibrating feature. This is handy if the caregiver is doing something noisy like vacuuming. Another very handy feature is the 1/8 " phono jack (standard switch input) on the transmitter button. This means you can operate the alarm with any switch that works for you. I activate my alarm with my computer. I can provide more details if anyone is interested.

Some great ideas. Another idea many do not think of that is useful if you think you may have a prowler, or really want to get attention is to use the button on your keys remote control. Most have a panic button that starts blowing the horn. It would be a good idea to keep it by the bed at night just in case of a burglar.
