A nurse from the clinic came today and did my first real PEG tube change. The PEG came out about a month after I had it put in and it hurt like heck when she put a larger one in it's place. Now it's been about a year and I didn't feel a thing, most of you already know this but to the ones who haven't had to have theirs changed no worries.

Mines being changed next Tuesday.

Happy dance Janie!

Only 1 month after initial placement that stoma is still very tender so it would have been painful. Now it would be more like an ear piercing, you can tug it about a fair bit without any pain.

Yours will be just as easy Dalvin :)

VA recommended change after 3 months, but nurse looked at it and said I could go longer. Infernal radiology at Hoag Hosp. said five months, so I went to them at six months. It was painful to remove because one part did not deflate, they said.

I waited 10 months, the only reason they changed it then is the top broke off, the old one was pretty gross looking.
