Still hanging in 5 years after diagnosis I've had plenty of experience with different lifts. The most common being the Hoyer type. Always a pain because they require too much space to maneuver and you have to store them somewhere between uses.
I switched to a portable overhead lift last year that has made life much easier on me and my caregivers. I have one in the bedroom and bathroom. They are battery operated and reliable. The VA funded mine.
