PALS ROLL CALL NEW THREAD (PALS ONLY) [Wednesday or whenever]

Hi everyone. Wednesday check-in, so be there or be square. And let’s all hope there is no violence in D.C. today.

My fervent wish is that folks of all political persuasions will move on with their lives and focus on the real threat—a mutating virus that is killing nearly 4,000 of us every day. Kevin

Checking in and doing a happy dance despite the UTI. Looking forward to a properly quarantined visit from my sister from Arizona in two weeks. She must love me to come from there to here in January.

It's a beautiful day, perfect weather. I was able to get out this morning for a little more than a 2 mile walk.

Hoping all stays quiet in Washington today 🙏 wishful thinking. Here's to the start of a new era and hopefully the start of unified collaboration and great strides.

I have my first clinic on Friday, unsure what to expect other than it will be a long day.

Until next week sending hugs, smiles and wishes to all for a great day.

I can’t believe what I’m seeing. A coup attempt is happening right now. The Capitol has been breached and members evacuated under armed guard.

Unfortunately, our hopes for a calm and peaceful day in Washington DC has not come to pass. I am embarrassed to say that my state of Montana has one senator and our sole, newly elected House representative who said they were going to oppose the certification - I hope they are seeing that their words and actions have consequences, although my hopefulness is almost certainly delusional.

Everything else in my life is pretty trivial compared to these goings on, so I won't even report out on it…

Another Wednesday rolls in, so I'll get an early start.

I had my first multidisciplinary clinic on Friday. Whew 😅 that was a marathon day. I've never been seen by so many clinicians in one day. All in all it was a good visit. My strength is still strong mostly scoring 5's with a couple of 4+ scores. I'm going to be starting PT. It was challenging to find a therapist in my area that is NCS certified (neurological clinical specialist)but I did find one so I'll start with her next week.

My neurologist has written a prescription for Sodium Phenylbutyrate, so we'll see if it goes through my insurance or if they'll have to send an appeal. He said that they're having luck with the appeals letter.

I am also going to be evaluated to see if I qualify to participate in the Healey Platform Trials that are now recruiting. I'm keeping my 🤞. Dr Benatar is heading a study called PGB2. This is not a drug study but a study looking for biomarkers. I am enrolled in that study.

Everything else here is the same, waiting for the covid vaccine. Hoping everyone's hanging in there. Enjoy your week.

Beat me to it again, Lisa. I was just typing this when your message posted. So glad to hear about your strength, and the prescription. Let us know how that goes with insurance.

I hope as many of you as possible check in. I feel a very strong bond with everyone here, and I take comfort in hearing from you.

I have been in a dark mood recently, in part because of this f**cked up disease but also because of the very dire state of affairs here. COVID is rampant, and I fear violence is coming.

And it isn’t just limited to the U.S. So many countries are struggling with the virus, in spite of their best efforts. I just read where Japan has more than 60,000 people hospitalized, which is staggering considering its population is much less than half that of the U.S. and they had much greater adherence to safety protocols. And now news that the S. African variant may very possibly be quite a bit more resistant to the current vaccines. Somehow I need to snap out of my dark thoughts.

On a positive note, my daughter is in line for the vaccine because of her status as a front line worker. She works with a local physician conducting exercise therapy classes in between grad school work. Her EMT boyfriend has already received the first dose and is scheduled for the second dose this week, so that’s all good. Best, Kevin

Good morning from the SF Bay Area. These are tough days for all of us. Just trying to find some joy in every day. Spending time with family, watched "Soul" yesterday, got out for a drive in the wheelchair van, daughters took me for a walk on the Bay Trail with our little dog. Looking forward to getting power chair in a few weeks, manual chair not too comfortable for long walks. Friends are bringing us lots of food, wish we could invite them in! Pandemic makes this so much harder. Wishing everyone all the best, stay safe.

Good morning to everyone. We had a huge storm last night and power has been out for hours. My lift chair and bed are stuck in their last positions. At least the headlights and charging port on my power chair are coming in handy!

I’ve been looking into the purchase vs rental of an accessible van, but can’t decide what’s best.

On a positive note, my sister is flying in from Georgia tonight and I’m very much looking forward to her visit.

Wishing everyone well!

Checking in from Tucson, spoiled by the 70s, now in 60s, but I'll take it. Waiting for VA to get around to me with vaccine. Irony is my wife will be further down the list, tho she is the one exposed when shopping etc. and on whom I am almost wholly dependent.
