Palliative can be used as an umbrella term for comfort care rather than the bridge between acute and hospice care, but either eway, but most hospices do not actually have docs on staff, only under contract. That holds true for both the hospice medical director and any other physicians who help out, as in with palliative care. Hospices are really like home health agencies and could not afford full-time docs based on the rates they are paid.
