Hi All,

Super grateful for any advice you may have on my situation. It has been ongoing for over 8 weeks- had the EMG about 10 days ago. Left arm weakness, fatigue, twtiches, hand weakness. I am hoping it is due to my neck as I have servere compression the the C5-C6 nerve root. Narravitive ot the EMG from 7/14- This is a NORMAL study. Specifically there is no electrodiagnositc evidence of motor neruron disorder.

Now the muscle between my thumb and forefinger seems like it cramps and my thumb was twitching too.

MRI of neck: Severe compression of the C6 and Cy nverve. Severe arthritis at C5/C6 level. Severe neural forman stenosis with compression at the C7 level.

Could these things be the cause of some wasting in my hand, pain in hand, numbess, and pain in shoulder and arm?

I have litereally seem every you tube video on ALS, treatments, etc. and am scared out of my mind.

Thank you

Yes definitely. And pain and numbness are not presenting ALS symptoms. They are consistent with nerve compression.

suggest you research that and forget about ALS

good luck

Thank you Nikki. In your opinion if I was having hand issues/weakness/overall fatigue and twitching- would it have showed on the EMG at the earlier stage?

The EMG does not show what issues you are having. It shows whether there is damage to nerves or muscles responsible for sensation and/or motor function. Specialists make a diagnosis based on "issues" that are self-reported, their findings on exam, and tests such as the EMG and MRI.

An MRI that reads like yours suggests that you be followed by a spine specialist who may recommend PT and meds first, and procedures if things don't improve or get more serious.

Thank you- i was just asking if I was symtomatic with twitching, fatigue, weakness if it would have shown on the EMG so early from about 7 to 8 weeks out. Have another appointment with a specialist tommorow I just get so scared and overwhelmed. Trying all the supplements out there from coconut oil, magnesium, AAKG, you name it.

The EMG was not too early. A succession of supplements is a waste of money in this situation. Let us know what the specialist says.

Met with the Neuro specialist yesterday- we reviewed the EMG and all was in good normal order. He also did a clinical and strength and such was in tact. Told him I’ve beem so stressed I feel loopy. All in all- he said nothing to show ALS although I still get the twitches and my thumb muscle will spasm from time to time. Also fatigue continues to be present with thinking into my hand and fingers.

I’m just praying- my self confidence has gone to almost 0.

That's fantastic news of no ALS. Now that you have been given the all clear by the neurologist, folks here, and lack of ALS symptoms, that's wonderful that you can finally leave your ALS fears behind and rebuild your self confidence.

Best of luck to you in the future and do stay safe. Take good care.
