First of all, thanks to John1 for his answer to my 1st post.
Since 10/2005, i take RILUTEK.

Last week, i met one of the best belgian neurologist at hospital Saint Luc/Bruxelles.

He proposed me to take a well known drug for breast cancer: "TAMOXIFEN"

He is not sure it works for ALS but told me it has been tested in USA.

I have accepted to take it with Rilutek. What can i do ?

I have found this on the net http://www.alsa.org/patient/drug.cfm?id=671

I hope it will be usefull for all of us !

Hi gigi,

Thanks for the post. I became aware of Brooks' early work with Tamoxifen and I began to take it in 2001 for ALS. It was a bit weird going into the pharmacy and get a prescription for a breast cancer drug (I'm male). I took it for a couple of years. Unfortunately Brooks' ALS laboratory at U of Wisconsin was closed by the university and I believe he was dismissed and his work languished. I don't know of any studies on SOD-1 mice for example, only with the virus which seems like a very poor analogue for ALS. I don't know if it helped me or not. I continued to progress during the time I took it.

Thanks John1 !

I have a new rendez-vous with my neurologist in july. Meanwhile, i' ll continue to take TAMOXIFEN (if i support it) and i 'll see what is the result.
I am a male too and my neurologist made the prescription at the name of my wife.
Ciao !
