August 30th 2013 165 days on DP
Turned 57 today...remembering wondering if I would live to see this birthday, but...here I am!
This week has been outstanding, God has lifted me up and I have been smokin' on the elliptical! Faster, farther then at anytime since beginning in March and a year since onset and fighting a serious C. Diff infection at the same time. My healthy 22 yr old son can't keep up with me to put into perspective, my breathing is above normal and has stayed that way for 5 months now.
I worked up to 40 squats/lifts and 25 one leg lifts each leg today, work the reflex/punching bag over twice a day, lift/hold 5# weight ball, 600 reps each hand with digi-flex hand exerciser and use resistance bands on arms and legs.
I fell twice in June, once with a walker but since then my legs have stabilized and slowly become stronger. I used to stand and my right leg would buckle, or I would tip forward or backward at the ankles, now I can stand upright, maintain my balance without supporting myself with my hands. Weight steady at 170+/- a pound, still eating normally without problems.
Thumbs are weak, right hand fingers have zero sideways strength, legs very little sideways strength, can't stand without using one hand to help myself rise. I can't raise my right arm above my head (not weak but frozen), can't twist my wrist/arm so hand is palm up but those have all been like since May with very little change since then. Voice ok in a.m., poor by p.m.
One thing I have learned is that pills and powders alone can't fix me, I have to combine exercise and a low free glutamate diet along with prayer. Any of those things alone are not enough, prayer helps me to make good choices, to try harder, to not accept defeat but rise to the challenge. Muscles I can't use or have not used...don't get better, those that I can...do, simple as that.
I started Agmatine last week, BenaGene (oxaloacetate) yesterday and continue to take trehalose along with old/new protocol...that's news from SE Iowa where it's hot enough grill a steak on the hood of a car...
