Hello I am new here, back in April I started having problems with tripping and stumbling. My legs would get weak after just an hour or so of walking. I can no longer walk up stairs without my legs feeling very heavy, tired and painful. I have also noticed my arms feeling weaker, especially when I am driving. I have yet to get a diagnosed of what is wrong but I am wondering if any of these symptoms could be ALS.

Hi Blazer
You have something going on .They can be many things.
You need a work up by your family doctor and then he will refer you a specialist.

Good luck

The symptoms of ALS are common to many other diseases. The process of diagnosing ALS is largely about testing for all of the many other diseases that can present similar symptoms.

I sort of avoided scheduling an appointment with my Doctor to discuss the symptoms I was having (for me it started with muscle twitching, weight loss and weakness in my right hand and arm). My wife finally convinced me to see the doctor before my normal scheduled time.

But I have also read about many other diseases that present similar symptoms. In fact, the very first time I saw a neurologist, as I sat in the waiting room I read an article by Michael J Fox talking about his Parkinson's disease, and his symptoms sounded similar to mine.

So, you really need to see a doctor to get any idea of what is going on.

Blazer, welcome to the forum.

Like the other members said there are many other things that may be going on in your body other than ALS. Try to calm those fears and seek out a Doctors opinion before you worry about the worst that might happen.
