Hey all 👋 diagnosed in February 2024 and things are moving incredibly fast. I’m so determined to beat this but I’m starting to feel like that was completely delusional. As much as I fight this, things just keep getting worse so quickly. Anyway, been feeling the emotions lately and trying to push through. 32 year old guy here so pretty young, would love to chat with other young people with ALS! Gay here too and have yet to find another gay guy with ALS! Pretty niche community I guess haha

Sorry you find yourself here and for your progression. Still, ALS is usually more of a marathon than a sprint, and does take a toll on your metabolism, so try not to burn yourself out in the first round. Should something promising come along, you want to be in a position to take advantage.

There are interventional trials recruiting -- you can search via clinicaltrials.gov.

We'll support you however we can; no question is too big or small.

Welcome though sorry you are here. 32 is young for sure. There are other young Pals and other gay PALS too. Have you reached out to any of the young pals who are active on social media? I think that the young group is actually overrepresented there. Young faces of ALS has stories of young pals.

When you say fighting I am not sure what you mean. I do believe that you can progress faster if you push yourself physically too much. Both as a constant thing and as an individual event I could tell you the day and hour I lost toe walking on one leg after overdoing it at the gym. I have heard other PALS say the same. This is probably most true of those of us who are lower motor dominant.

Progression isn’t usually linear anyway so I hope you get a plateau soon

HeyHey, It helps if you might share some information of where (what) ALS
accredit facility determined your diagnosis and the Neuro. We have
very knowledgeable members to help you as you go along and if
you decide for second opinion we often suggest.

It is optional but does help members as you progress.

Hi, sorry to welcome you here, I'm also on the youngish side at 37 and diagnosed on May 2024.
