We had our first ALS clinic visit at Stanford on Friday. The neurologist told us they are starting a new clinical trial and would like David to participate. The study lasts for one year and would require a pic line with the antibiotic ceftriaxone administered twice a day.
You would have a 70% chance of getting the drug.

Does anyone have any information on this treatment? Bev

There a few threads about it at the bottom of this page.

I am currently doing the trial. I have a Hickman Cathedar. I have been doing it since Oct 13. Don't really have anything huge to report except that I feel like I'm at least trying to fight this damn thing.

An exciting week for me. Today: got a BiPAP machine. The woman who came to set it up was a bit perturbed when I said, "So, when I'm dead my heirs can sell this, right?" Wednesday, I get a Hickman. Thursday, I get whatever they give me -- ceftriaxone or placebo. Friday, I'm seeing my GP for an AD prescription. Saturday... maybe with the increased oxygen and the AD, I'll go out dancing. If I can stand up long enough.
